All-rounder from Saint Lucia who led West Indies to their first major title in eight years by winning the 2012 ICC World Twenty20. In the Indian Premier League, he was selected captain of Hyderabad in 2014.
Daren Julius Garvey Sammy is a cricketer from Saint Lucien who played international cricket for the West Indies. Darren Sammy was born on December 20, 1983 in Micoud, St Lucia with Wilson Sammy and Clara Sammy. Great Britain was awarded honorary citizenship of Pakistan for its "invaluable contribution to cricket in Pakistan". He is the captain of twice to win the T20 World Cup. Launched internationally to Bangladesh in 2004, Sammy became the first person from Saint Lucia to play international cricket. Three years later, he made his debut on the Test against England, winning 7/66, which was the best number of bowling for a West Indian on his first test since Alf Valentine 1950. Sammy was named captain of the West Indies in October 2010. He scored his first Century of Experiments in May 2012 against England. Sammy is the only captain to have won the World T20 twice.
