Daryl Michael Murphy is an Irish professional soccer player playing for the Waterford team. Murphy started his career at Waterford United, playing youth football for Waterford Southend United and England's Luton Town team, while spending a brief spell on loan at Harrow Borough in 2002. After a three-year stint at Waterford , he signed for Sunderland in 2005. Murphy made more than 100 appearances for Sunderland, while spending time on loan with Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich Town, before joining Scotland's Celtic in 2010. He spent most of his time at Celtic on loan at the former Ipswich Town loan club, where he spent two consecutive seasons on loan before relocating permanently in June 2013. He spent the next three seasons at Portman Road, making over 200 appearances and scoring. over 60 goals before moving to Newcastle United in 2016. He did a season at Newcastle before moving to Nottingham Forest.
