David Ernest Duke is an American neo-Nazi conspiracy theorist, far-right politician, convicted felony, and former great witch of the Knights Ku Klux Klan. From 1989 to 1992, he was a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives. Its publications and policies were primarily devoted to promoting conspiracy theories on Jews, such as Holocaust denial and Jewish control over academia, the press, and the financial system. The Anti-Defamation League has described Duke as "perhaps America's most famous racist and anti-Semite". Duke failed as a Democratic candidate for the state legislature in the 1970s and 1980s, culminating with the Democratic presidential campaign of 1988. Any traction within the Democratic Party, Duke left and successfully won the presidential nomination of the small populist party.
