David Hockney, is an English painter, publisher, printer, theater designer and photographer. A major contributor to the popular arts movement of the 1960s, he is considered one of the most influential British artists of the 20th century. Hockney owns a mansion and studio in Bridlington and London, too. Like two Californian residences, where he has lived on and off since 1964: one in Hollywood Hills, one in Malibu, and an office and archives on Santa Monica Avenue in Western Hollywood, California. On November 15, 2018, Hockney's 1972 Artist's Portrait sold at Christie's auction house in New York City for $ 90 million, becoming the most expensive work of art . The survivors are put up for auction. This broke the previous record, set by Jeff Koons' 2013 Balloon Dog sale for $ 58.4 million. Hockney held that record until May 15, 2019, when Jeff Koons reclaimed his honor when his bunny was sold for over $ 91 million at Christie's in New York City.
