David Hyde Pierce is an American actor and director. Pierce played the psychiatrist Dr. Niles Crane in the NBC sitcom Frasier from 1993 to 2004 and received four Primetime Emmy Awards for the role. He is also known for his role in The Good Wife. Pierce has played supporting roles in many films, including Terry Gilliam's The Fisher King, Nora Ephron's Sleepless in Seattle, Mike Nichols's Wolf, and Oliver Stone's Nixon. He also starred in the hit comedies Wet Hot American Summer and Down with Love, as well as the black comedy The Perfect Host. His voice acting roles include A Bug's Life, Osmosis Jones and Disney Pixar's Treasure Planet. Pierce has also had a successful career on stage. His Broadway roles include Sir Robin in Monty Python's Spamalot, Vanya in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike and Horace Vandergelder in Hello, Dolly !.
