David Yutaka Ige is an American politician who holds the eighth governor of Hawaii. As a Democrat, he previously served in the Hawaii State Senate. In the 2014 presidential election, he defeated incumbent Governor Neil Abercrombie in the Democratic primary and won the general election over Republican candidate Duke Aiona. He was re-elected in 2018 .
