Former NFL wide receiver who will be known for his incredible Super Bowl XLII helmet catch, which helped the New York Giants defeat the New England Patriots.
David Mikel Tyree is a former American football executive and receptionist who is director of player development for the National Football Federation of Giants in New York City. Previously, he played in the NFL for seven seasons, primarily with the Giants, who selected him for the sixth round of the 2003 NFL Draft. Tyree is best known for Helmet Catch, a late-game reception. In Super Bowl XLII which helped New York win one of the greatest sporting events of all time. Tyree won the Pro Bowl and All-Pro First Division titles in 2005 as a special player for the team, but has had very little playing time for much of his career. However, Tyree solidified his Super Bowl hero status during the Giant's final Super Bowl XLII practice when he unexpectedly caught the first pass while thrusting the ball into his helmet. With their reception, the Giants were able to take the lead in the final minutes and beat the New England Patriots, the first team to win all 16 games of the regular season.
