As a member of the Michigan State Spartans, he was selected Associated Press Player of the Year for the 2015-16 NCAA season. In 2015, he also assisted in leading the Spartans to the NCAA Tournament final four. The Chicago Bulls selected him 14th overall in the 2016 NBA Draft.

Denzel Robert Valentine is an American professional basketball player for the National Basketball Association's Chicago Bulls. He plays college basketball for the Michigan State Spartans. As a senior, Valentine became the first player in Michigan state history to be recognized by the Associated Press as National Player of the Year. He also won the NABC, USA Today, Sports Illustrated, NBC Sports and Basketball Times Player of the Choice awards in addition to being unanimously agreed to be the All-America First Team. Valentine was chosen with the 14th vote in NBA Draft 2016 by Chicago Bulls. Valentine is also a rapper who released his first album in February 2021.
