Former NBA All-Star and former professional basketball player who spent his career with the Dallas Mavericks, Seattle SuperSonics, Portland Trail Blazers, and Indiana Pacers before retiring in 2001.
Detlef Schrempf is a retired German-American professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Washington Huskies between 1981 and 1985 and was joined by the Dallas Mavericks in the National Basketball Association in the first round of NBA Draft 1985, with an eighth overall pick. He was a member of the All-NBA Third Team in 1995, winning three NBA All-Star titles and twice the NBA Sixth Man of the Year. Schrempf played in the NBA for 16 seasons, including selections for Indiana Pacers, Seattle SuperSonics and Portland Trail Blazers. In 1996, he reached the NBA Finals with SuperSonics. He played for the West German national team, then for Germany, at the 1984 and 1992 Summer Olympics as well as at the 1983 and 1985 EuroBasket championships. Schrempf was inducted into the Hall of Fame. fame of FIBA in 2021.
