Venkatesh Prabhu Kasthuri Raja, known by the stage name Dhanush, is an Indian actor, producer, director, writer, lyricist and singer working primarily in Tamil cinema. Starred in 44 films during his career, among the Dhanush Awards there are 13 SIIMA Awards, nine Vijay Awards, seven Southern Filmfare Awards, five Vikatan Awards, five Edison Awards, four National Film Awards and one Filmfare Award. He has been included on Forbes' 100 Indian Celebrity List six times, based on Indian celebrity earnings. Dhanush's first film was Thulluvadho Ilamai, a 2002 teenage movie directed by his father, Kasthuri Raja. He got further successes from both critically acclaimed and commercially successful Polladhavan and Yaaradi Nee Mohini. His role as a rooster in the film Aadukalam won Best Actor at the 58th National Film Awards and Best Tamil Actor at the 60th Filmfare Awards South.
