Donald McLean III is an American singer and songwriter best known for his 1971 hit song "American Pie", an 8.5-minute folk rock "cultural stone" about the sheer loss of the world. His other hits include "Vincent", "Dreidel", Roy Orbison's "Crying" performance, Skyliners' performance "Since I Don't Have You" and "Wonderful Baby". Her composition "And I Love You So" was sung by Elvis Presley, Perry Como, Helen Reddy, Glen Campbell and others, and by 2000 Madonna had had success with her performance "American Pie". In 2004, he was inducted into the Composers Hall of Fame. In January 2018, BMI certified that “American Pie” and “Vincent” reached 5 million and 3 million air respectively.
