Through her program Angel Therapy, she is a New Age author and therapist who preaches the use of guardian angels for spiritual recovery. Her self-help books, a regular radio show on Hay House Radio, and a self-titled YouTube channel with over 1.9 million views have all grown out of her profession.

Doreen Virtue before fame

She grew up believing she had clairvoyant talents and that she could communicate with spirits even as a toddler. She worked as a psychotherapist specializing in eating disorders in adulthood when, after being saved from an armed carjacking, she became interested in studying and lecturing about divine intervention.

She has a bachelor's, master's, and doctorate in counseling psychology, and before to Angel Therapy, she devoted her time writing books about child custody and eating disorders.

Doreen Virtue family life

Her father was a self-employed writer and her mother was a Christian spiritual healer. She married Larry Schenk and they had two kids, Grant and Charles, but she and Schenk divorced later. She has been married and divorced three times since then, to three different men.
