This Democratic Unionist Party politician was a long-serving member of the Northern Ireland Assembly, serving as Minister of the Environment from 2009 to 2011 and Minister of Health, Social Services, and Public Safety from 2011 to 2014. He was elected leader of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) in May 2021.

Edwin Poots is a Northern Irish politician. He is a member of the Democratic Unionist Party and is a Member of the Legislative Assembly for Lagan Valley. He has been the Minister of Agriculture, Environment, and Rural Affairs since January 2020. On 2 February 2021 Poots stood down temporarily for health reasons, but returned to work some weeks later.
