Emerson Wojciechowska Fittipaldi is a semi-retired Brazilian racer who has won the Formula One World Championship twice and the Indianapolis 500 and one CART. Stepping out of Formula 2, Fittipaldi had his first race for Team Lotus as third rider at the British Grand Prix in 1970. After Jochen Rindt's death at the 1970 Italian Grand Prix, the Brazilian became Lotus's main racer in his fifth Grand Prix. He had considerable success with Lotus, winning the 1972 Drivers World Championship at the age of 25, the youngest F1 world championship record he held in 33 years. He then moved to McLaren in 1974, again winning this title. He came as a surprise when he switched to his brother's Fittipaldi Automotive side before the 1976 season, which was replaced by James Hunt. Success eluded him during his final years in Formula 1, with Fittipaldi cars not competitive enough to fight for victory.
