In 2017 at the P&G Championships in Anaheim, California she took home first place in Floor Exercise. She committed to attend UCLA in the spring of 2017. 

Emma Malabuyo before fame

She was a member of the Texas Dreams Gymnastics club, where Kim Zmeskal Burdette and Chris Burdette were her coaches. In 2015, she competed in her first national tournament, the American Classic in Huntsville, TX, and in 2016, she competed in her first international competition, the Gymnix International Junior Cup in Montreal, Canada, where her team won first place.
