Essence Uhura Atkins is an American actress and model. She began her career appearing on television sitcoms, before playing a regular role in the first short film for African Americans - Under One Roof. Atkins is known for his roles in the television comedies. From 1997 to 1999, she played the role of Tasha Yvette Henderson in the WB sitcom Smart Guy. She then went on to play Dee Dee Thorne in UPN's sitcom Half & Half and TBS comedy series Are We There Yet? as Suzanne Kingston-Users. In the film, Atkins appears Deliver Us from Eva, Dance Flick, A Haunted House and A Haunted House 2.
