Evgeni Vladimirovich Malkin is a Russian professional ice hockey center and replacement captain for the National Hockey League's Pittsburgh Penguins Team. Nicknamed "Geno", Malkin began his career with hometown club Metallurg Magnitogorsk, playing for their junior and senior teams. He was then selected second in the 2004 Draft NHL by Pittsburgh Penguins, although an international transfer dispute delayed the start of his NHL career until 2006.
