Fernando Eurico de Barros Oliveira da Fonseca e Costa is a former Portuguese swimmer who specializes in long range freestyle events. He is a two-time Olympic athlete and currently holds the Portuguese record in 1500m free time at Summer University 2007 in Bangkok, Thailand. Costa made his debut for Portugal at the age of 19 at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, where he played in 1,500 men's freestyle events. Ending the last five matches, Costa closed the game to eighth and 21th place in 15: 32.55, thirty seconds behind Russian winner Yuri Prilukov. At the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, Costa passed the second qualifying round in the 1,500 men's freestyle event, with a standard FINA B entrance time of 15: 16.22 at the 2007 Summer University in Bangkok, Thailand. Costa challenged six other swimmers in the second set, including three-time Romanian Olympian Dragoș Coman and France's Nicolas Rostoucher.
