Creed writer and director Ryan Coogler is the film's executive producer. The film tells the story of a fight that spans more than 33 years, when Donnie Creed meets a new opponent in the ring: Viktor Drago, son of Ivan Drago, the powerful athlete who took the life of Donnie's father, Apollo Creed, in 1985's Rocky IV A Creed sequel was confirmed in January 2016, but due to Coogler and Jordan's participation in Black Panther, the film was delayed, eventually Coogler was replaced by Caple.
