Frances de la Tour, while Frances J. de Lautour, is an English actress, best known for her role as Miss Ruth Jones in the television sitcom Rising Damp from 1974 to 1978. She is a Tony Award winner and three-time Olivier Award winner. She played Lintott in The History Boys in London and Broadway, winning the 2006 Tony Award for Best Actress in a play. She reprized the role in the 2006 film. Her other film roles include Madame Olympe Maxime in Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. TV roles include Emma Porlock on Dennis Potter's Cold Lazarus series, lead Margaret Baron on the BBC sitcom Big School, and Violet Crosby on the Vicious sitcom.
