Lanfranco "Frankie" Dettori, MBE is an Italian racehorse based in the UK. Dettori became Jockey Champion three times and was a winner in over 500 group races. His most famous achievement was riding the seven winners of the English Championship Festival at Ascot in 1996. He is the son of Sardinian rider Gianfranco Dettori, who has won several tournaments in Italy. He was described by Lester Piggott as the best rider today. Since the end of 2012, Dettori has been active as a freelance writer, having broken up with Godolphin Racing, with whom he is a regular racer and has won most of his big racing victories. On December 5, 2012, he was suspended from driving for six months after being convicted of using a prohibited substance, cocaine. During this absence, he appeared in the 11th British reality TV series Celebrity Big Brother, which finished in seventh place on day 21.
