Gakuto Oshiro, better known by his stage name Gackt, is a Japanese musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor. Born in Okinawa, Japan to a Ryukyuan family, Gackt learned the piano from an early age and grew up with classical music and enka before becoming interested in rock music in high school. He has been active since 1993, first as a moderator for short-lived indie band Cains: Feel, then for visual rock band kei Malice Mizer, before starting his solo career in 1999. He has released nine studio albums and , with 48 singles released, holds the record for the most male solo singers out of ten consecutive singles in musical history. Japan.
