Gary Alexis Medel Soto is a Chilean professional footballer who plays for Italian club Bologna and the Chilean national team as center-back and defensive midfielder. Medel has played club football with several teams in many countries, starting with the Chilean side of the Universidad Católica, then playing for the Argentinian side Boca Juniors, the Spanish side of Sevilla, the Premier League team. Cardiff City and Inter Milan's Italian team, before moving to Beşiktaş in Turkey in 2017. He then returned to Italy and joined Bologna in 2019. An official international with more than 120 caps for the Chilean national team since 2007, Medel has represented the country at two FIFA World Cups, four tournaments in the Copa América and one version of the FIFA Federation.
