Luigi "Geno" Auriemma is an Italian-American college basketball coach and head coach of the Connecticut Huskies University women's basketball team. He led UConn to 11 NCAA Division I national championships, the most in college girl basketball history, and won eight National Coach of the Year awards at Naismith College. Auriemma was head coach of the American Women's National Basketball Team from 2009 to 2016, during which time her team won the 2010 and 2014 world championships and gold medals at the Summer Olympics. 2012 and 2016, unbeaten in all four tournaments. Auriemma has been inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006 .
