Geraldine Leigh Chaplin is an American actress. She is the daughter of Charlie Chaplin, the first of eight children with fourth wife Oona O'Neill. After starting to dance and model, she moved on to acting and making her English acting debut as Tonya in David Lean's Doctor Zhivago. She made her Broadway debut in Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes in 1967 and received a second Golden Globe nomination for the role of Nashville from Robert Altman. She received a BAFTA nomination for her role in Welcome to L.A .. She played grandmother Hannah Chaplin in the biopic Chaplin for which she received a third Golden Globe nomination. Chaplin has appeared in critically acclaimed French and Spanish films. She has appeared in Les Uns et les Autres, Life Is a Bed of Roses and the experimental films of Jacques Rivette Noroît and Love on the Ground.
