Italian politician who rose to prominence after becoming Italy's 58th Prime Minister in June 2018. He was appointed to the position as Western Europe's first populist government, and became the first Prime Minister to serve without prior government experience since 1994.

Giuseppe Conte is an Italian jurist, scholar and lawyer, having served as Italian Prime Minister from June 2018 to February 2021. Conte spent most of his career as a law professor and also a member of the Italian Office of Administrative Justice from 2013 to 2018. After the 2018 general election, he was proposed to be The independent head of an interstellar coalition government. Movement and League, though they have never held a political position before. After the two sides agreed on a government program, President Sergio Mattarella was sworn in as prime minister on June 1, appointing the M5S and League leaders as his joint delegates. In August 2019, the League launched a critical move against the coalition government. Conte had offered to step down as prime minister, but instead, the M5S and the center-left Democrats agreed to form a new government, with Conte still at the top.
