Karaca participated in the Miss Turkey contest held on day 2 June 2011 at the TIM Show Center and finished runner-up, she qualified as the Turkish representative for Miss World. On January 25, 2013, 30 Turkish actors, including Gizem Karaca, were arrested for a drug investigation by Istanbul drug police.
