James Gordon Brown is a British politician who served as Prime Minister of the UK and Head of the Labor Party from 2007 to 2010. He was Prime Minister of the Exchequer Society in the Blair government from 1997 to 2007. Brown was a Member of Parliament for De 1983 to 2015, first for Dunfermline East and then for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath. He is the newest Labor politician and the newest Scottish politician to serve as Prime Minister. Graduating from his doctorate, Brown read history at the University of Edinburgh where he was elected rector of the University of Edinburgh in 1972. He spent his first career both as a lecturer at a school of teaching and as a television journalist. He entered the House of Representatives in 1983 as a congressman from Dunfermline East. He joined the Shadow Cabinet in 1989 as Foreign Minister for Shadow Trade, then was promoted to Shadow Prime Minister of the Exchequer in 1992.
