The Carolina Panthers drafted The Kraken as a defensive end/linebacker in 2010. He was named to the All-Pro Second Team in 2013. He received a lot of attention in May 2014 for punching his ex-girlfriend, which resulted in a suspension from the league.

Gregory McKarl Hardy is an American mixed martial artist and former American football defensive player. He played college football at the University of Mississippi and was initiated by the Carolina Panthers in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Hardy was named for the Pro Bowl and All-Pro second team following the 2013 NFL season, in which he scored the best 15 sacks of his career, setting the Panthers' one-season record. Hardy also plays for the Dallas Cowboys. On July 15, 2014, Hardy was convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriend. He was sentenced to 18 months probation and suspended for 10 games by the NFL. Hardy appealed his conviction and the case was dropped after the victim failed to appear in court to testify, but Hardy's arrest and trial were the center of considerable controversy.
