British motorcycle racer who is better recognized for his off-track adventures than his on-track accomplishments.
Guy Martin is an English motorcyclist, TV presenter and heavy mechanic. Martin started racing in 1998 and in 2004, he competed on the Isle of Man TT for the first time. He has had a total of 17 glorious podiums at TT events over the years. He broke his back twice in racing accidents, at the 2010 TT and the 2015 Ulster Grand Prix. In July 2017, Guy Martin retired from motorcycling. In August 2017, Martin joined Williams' Formula 1 racing team for the Belgian GP. Martin returned to the track in May 2019 at the Tandragee 100 in Northern Ireland. Martin starred in Closer to the Edge, a 2011 documentary about TT racing. Since then he has presented programs on various technical subjects and the Channel 4 Speed series with Guy Martin as he sets speed records on a wide variety of motor and human vehicles. He is the author of four books and has participated in off-road cycling races.
