Hakan Çalhanoğlu is a Turkish professional soccer player who currently plays in the attacking midfield position for Serie A club Milan and the Turkish national team. He started his career at Karlsruher SC in 2010 and joined top team Hamburger SV two years later, spending another season at his first club on loan. His performance in the first Bundesliga season earned him a € 14.5million transfer to Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 2014. He played three seasons at BayArena, scoring a total of 28 goals after 115 official appearances. In 2017, he signed with Milan for an initial sum of 20 million euros. Born in Germany, Çalhanoğlu chose to represent Turkey at the international level, from the age of 16. He made his senior debut in 2013 and was part of their squad at UEFA Euro 2016.
