After leading the Houston Rockets to NBA championships in 1994 and 1995, he was awarded Finals MVP. He was a 12-time NBA All-Star, a member of the All-NBA First Team six times, and the NBA MVP in 1994. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame as well as the FIBA Hall of Fame.
Hakeem Abdul Olajuwon, is a former Nigerian-American professional basketball player. He has been nicknamed the "dream" of his basketball career after being sunk so easily that his college coach said it "sounded like a dream." From 1984 to 2002, he played the National Basketball Association center for the Houston Rockets and the Toronto Raptors. He led the Rockets consecutively to NBA championships in 1994 and 1995. In 2008 he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, and in 2016, he was introduced into the FIBA ββHall of Fame. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Olajuwon came from his hometown to compete at the University of Houston under the guidance of head coach Guy Lewis. His college career for Cougars included three trips to the Final Four. Olajuwon was drafted by the Houston Rockets with the first overall selection in the 1984 NBA Draft, a draft that included Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley and John Stockton.
