Harel Skaat is sometimes known by the stage name Harel as an Israeli singer and songwriter. He represented Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song "Milim". Skaat has been singing and performing in public since he was a kid. At the age of six, he won the children's song festival competition. When he was in elementary school, he appeared on national television, and as a teenager he was the lead vocalist in his town and high school music groups. While performing his compulsory service with the Israel Defense Forces, he sang in the Music of the Media Corps. Skaat's breakthrough in expertise came when he was a contestant in the second season of Kochav Nolad, a competitive reality TV show in a format similar to American Idol, and finished in second place. After the show ended, he signed a recording contract with Hed Arzi, one of the largest music companies in Israel. His first album, titled Harel Skaat, was released in July 2006
