Hazel McCallion, a Canadian politician and businesswoman, was the fifth mayor of Mississauga, Ontario from 1978 to 2014. She was the first and current premier of Sheridan College. McCallion was first elected in November 1978 and is the longest-serving mayor in the city's history, having served 36 years upon his retirement in 2014. She was elected as a candidate in twelve city elections, after being welcomed twice and re-elected ten more times. His supporters nicknamed him "Hurricane Hazel" because of his blunt political style.
