About Helle Thorning-Schmidt
She was elected Danish Prime Minister in 2011 and is best known for her leadership of the Danish Social Democratic Party. She also spent five years in the European Union Parliament and six years in the Danish Parliament.
Helle Thorning-Schmidt is a retired Danish politician who served as Denmark's 26th Prime Minister from 2011 to 2015 and led the Social Democratic Party from 2005 to 2015. She was the assistant The first female to hold any position. After the defeat in 2015, she announced she would resign as Prime Minister of Denmark and lead the Social Democratic Party. At the end of her political career in April 2016, she served as CEO of the NGO Save the Children until June 2019. Thorning-Schmidt was a Member of the European Parliament of Denmark from 1999 to 2004 before being elected to the Danish Parliament in 2005.
