Hicham El Guerrouj is an average retired Moroccan runner. El Guerrouj currently holds the world record for outdoor events at 1,500 meters, miles and 2,000 meters. He also holds the world indoor record for running distances of 1,500 meters and 1,500 meters until 2019, and is the only man since Paavo Nurmi to win a gold medal in both the 1,500 and 5,000 meters at the same time. El Guerrouj has 7 of the 10 fastest tracks in 1500 meters and miles. He is considered by many to be the greatest mid-range runner of all time. In November 2014, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the International Federation of Athletics Federations.
