Holly Elizabeth Robinson Peete is an American actress and singer. She is known for her roles as Judy Hoffs in Fox's crime thriller 21 Jump Street, and Vanessa Russell in ABC's sitcom Hangin 'alongside Mr. Cooper and Dr. Malena Ellis in the NBC / WB sitcom For Your Love. She was also one of the early co-co-hosts of CBS's Day talk show, The Talk. After graduating from high school, Peete entered Sarah Lawrence College in New York. She majored in psychology and French. After graduating in 1986, she considered taking a graduate degree and was able to work in the language field for the US State Department. However, she decided to give her acting career a chance. Not long after, Peete found a role in a TV series and two movies. Peete's children's book, My Brother Charlie, won her the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literature in March 2011. In 2012, the book received the Dolly Gray Children's Literature Award. .
