Ian McCahon Sinclair is a former Australian politician who served as head of the National Party from 1984 to 1989. He served as minister of government for under six prime ministers, then as Speaker of the House of Representatives from March. November 1998. Sinclair was born in Sydney and studied law at the University of Sydney. Then he bought a farm property near Tamworth. Sinclair was elected to parliament in 1963, and was added to the Department in 1965 as part of the Menzies government. Over the next six years, he held various portfolios under the direction of four other prime ministers. Sinclair was elected to be his party's deputy head in 1971, under Anthony. He is a prominent member of the Fraser government, where he has spent his periods as Minister of Industry Main, Minister of Communications and Minister of Defense. In 1984, Sinclair replaced Anthony as head of the National Team. He led the party to two federal elections, in 1984 and 1987, but was replaced by Charles Blunt in 1989
