Iris Apfel is an American businesswoman, interior designer and fashion icon. In business with her husband Carl, from 1950 to 1992, Apfel pursued a career in textiles, including a nine-term presidential contract with the White House. Retired, she was critically acclaimed during a 2005 show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute, showcasing her costume jewelry collection and styling on a mannequin as she wear it. She became a fashion icon, contracted with IMG in 2019 as a model at the age of 97, and appeared in a 2014 documentary titled Iris by Albert Maysles.
