About Jack McCann

Irish stage actor who rose to fame after being cast as the lead in a production of The Sins of Jack Saul. He's also known for his role in the musical Bromance the Dudesical, which premiered in 2017.

John McCann is a British politician who served as Labor MP for Rochdale. McCann was educated in elementary school, then took classes at the National Council of Workers' Colleges and the Association of Workers Education. He became an engineer and diesel engine builder and served in the Home Guard Force during World War II. He was elected councilor of the Eccles district council in 1945 and is the leader of the Labor group. He was alderman of Eccles from 1952 and mayor from 1955–56. He was chairman of the management committee of West Manchester Hospital. McCann first contested Rochdale's seat in Congress in 1955 without success. He was first elected in a sub-election in 1958 after the death of incumbent Tory MP Wentworth Schofield. He became a dissident whip in 1961 and in 1964 was appointed to the office of the government whip as treasurer of the Lord, then in 1966 as deputy head of the Civil Affairs Division.
