Brightburn is a 2019 American superhero thriller directed by David Yarovesky, written by Mark Gunn and Brian Gunn, and produced by James Gunn and Kenneth Huang. The film stars Elizabeth Banks, David Denman, Jackson A. Dunn, Matt Jones and Meredith Hagner. He follows Brandon Breyer, an extraterrestrial boy who grew up on Earth, who realizes he has superpowers. After learning of their existence and brainwashed by the ship he arrived, Brandon rejected his humanity and turned to evil, choosing to terrorize his homeland, including his parents. The film is produced and sponsored by Screen Gems, Stage 6 Films, The H Collective, and Troll Court Entertainment. Brightburn was announced as the Untitled James Gunn Horror Project in December 2017. In addition to Gunn who produced the film, cousin Mark and brother Brian Gunn wrote the script. The main photo shoot started in March 2018 and ended in May of the same year. He adapted the concept of Superman into an obvious horror.
