Jackson Arley Martínez Valencia is a former Colombian professional footballer who played as a striker. After starting his career with Independiente Medellin in 2004 and becoming the tournament's top scorer in 2009, he attracted the interest of Chiapas, who signed him into January 2010. He spent three years with the Mexico team before moving to Portugal to play in Porto, where he was Primeira Liga's top scorer for his three seasons with the club. . In July 2015, Martínez joined Atlético Madrid for 35 million euros, and six months later, Guangzhou Evergrande from China for 42 million euros. He unfortunately suffered an ankle injury at the end of 2016 which led to his retirement for two years, before ending his career returning to Portugal with Portimonense in 2020. Martínez has represented Colombia 40 times since 2009. In 2015 , he scored nine goals for the country. He played for them at the 2011 and 2015 Copa América, as well as the 2014 FIFA World Cup, where he scored two goals against Japan.
