Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete is a Tanzanian politician, fourth president of Tanzania, in office from 2005 to 2015. Before being elected president, he was Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1995 to 2005 under predecessor Benjamin Mkapa. He was also President of the African Union from 2008 to 2009 and President of the South African Development Community Troika for Peace, Defense and Security from 2012 to 2013.
