Jacob Joseph Arrieta is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball. Previously he played for Baltimore Orioles and Philadelphia Phillies. Arrieta plays baseball varsity at Weatherford Junior College and Texas Christian University. He is an all-American and was named the Mountain West Conference of the Year Commentator at TCU. Orioles picked Arrieta in the fifth round of MLB Draft 2007, and he signed a then-record contract for a pick in the fifth round. He played for the US National Baseball Team at the 2008 Summer Olympics, winning a bronze medal. He made his big league debut for Orioles in 2010, and after four seasons, Arrieta was exchanged for the Cubs in 2013. In 2015, Arrieta led the MLB with 22 wins, throwing a top scorer and won the National League 2015 Cy Young Awards. In 2016, he was the NL All Star, a second shot that failed, received the Silver Slugger and won the World Series with the Cubs.
