Best for his role in the 2011 Hubert Page film Albert Nobbs. McTeer started professionally in 1984 and was nominated for the 1986 Olivier Award for Best Newcomer for The Grace of Mary Traverse. Her other theatrical roles include Yelena in Uncle Vanya, Véronique in God of Carnage, and the lead role in Mary Stuart, which earned her her second Drama Desk award in 2009
