Jarryd Lee Hayne is a former professional rugby player with the Australian Rugby League, who also played American football and first-class rugby briefly. In March 2021, he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman at her home in Newcastle, NSW. Hayne began his career in 2006 as a Parramatta Eels winger, winning the NRL Rookie of the Year award. The following year he made his international debut for New South Wales in the home state and Australia, and began playing primarily as a full-back. Hayne won the Dally M medal in 2009 and 2014 as the tournament's best player and the International Rugby League Player of the Year award in 2009. He represented Australia. At World Rugby 2013, and his father's hometown was Fiji at the 2008 and 2017 tournaments when he was not selected for Australia.
