Julio Daniel Martinez is an American professional baseball player and designated player for the Boston Red Sox baseball team of Major League Baseball. He also played in the MLB for the Houston Astros, Detroit Tigers and Arizona Diamondbacks. A right-handed pitcher and pitcher, Martinez is 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 221 pounds. A Miami native, Fla., Martinez was selected by Astros in round 20 with the 611th choice of the 2009 Nova Southeastern University Admission Draft. He was selected three times for the MLB All-Star and three times. won the Silver Slugger Award, as well as being the only player to have won the title twice in the same season. On September 4, 2017, Martinez became the 18th player in MLB history to complete four home runs in a single match, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He is of Cuban origin.
