Jennifer Jane Saunders is an English comedian, screenwriter, singer and actress. Saunders was first noticed in the 1980s when she joined the comics after graduating from the Royal Central School of Drama and Speech with her best friend and comedian, Dawn French. In French, she co-wrote and starred in their sketch of the same name, French and Saunders, for which they both received a BAFTA scholarship in 2009. Saunders was acclaimed in the 1990s for writing and playing her character Edina Monsoon in the Complete Fabulous sitcom.
