James O'Heir is an American actor and comedian best known for playing Jerry Gergich in the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation. O'Heir first began acting at the Chicago theater in the late 1980s and early 1990s as part of the comedy troupe "White Noise", and appeared in plays such as The Book of Blanche, Stumpy's Gang and Ad-Nauseam in the same group. O'Heir has appeared in several films and has appeared on shows such as Friends, Boston Legal, Malcolm in the Middle, Star Trek: Voyager, 3rd Rock from the Sun, ER, and Parenthood. In 2000, he starred in the comedy series Central Strip Mall as Harvey Krudup, husband of protagonist Tammi Tyler, played by Julie Brown. In 2009, O'Heir became the main actor of the NBC comedy series Parks and Recreation, playing the role of Jerry Gergich.
