Joseph Michael Allen is a Welsh professional footballer who plays in midfield for Championship club Stoke City and the Welsh national team. Allen started his career at Swansea City, making his first team debut in January 2007 at the age of 16. He made 150 appearances in all competitions in six years at Liberty Stadium, also on loan at Wrexham. While at Swansea, they have won two promotions, moving from Ligue 1 to the Premier League. In 2012, he joined Liverpool for £ 15 million, signed by former Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers. Allen spent four seasons at Anfield, making 132 appearances. In July 2016, he signed for Stoke City for a transfer fee of £ 13 million. As an official international player for Wales since 2009, Allen has made more than 50 caps for his national team and represented Wales at UEFA Euro 2016, helping the team reach the semi-finals.
